Our Story

About Us

Hello,

Welcome to our inspired range of reusable, eco-friendly cloth nappies and products for you and your little ones.

We pride ourselves on preserving the environment for our future generations to enjoy — this is what inspired us to create Junior Tribe Co and spread our love of reusable products.

We started as a small handmade business entangled between the beautiful untouched rainforests of the hinterland and the white sandy beaches of Byron Bay, NSW. Our love and inspiration is drawn from the scenery that surrounds us and the community in which we live.

Our cloth nappies are hand designed in the Byron Bay Hinterland, originally being hand sewn at home, they are now produced ethically overseas. The journey of your new cloth nappy starts from just a sketch and then blossoms into the nappy you use on your baby. The journey and process is a close one and we enjoy sharing your cloth nappy experience with you along the way.

Our Commitment to the Planet

From the very beginning, reducing our environmental footprint has been at the heart of everything we do. Choosing reusable cloth nappies over disposables is already a powerful step — but we believe our responsibility goes further than the product itself.

Say No to Plastic Bags

Each nappy or wet bag used to arrive from the factory wrapped in individual plastic bags for protection during shipment. We noticed it was generating bags and bags of trash — and living so close to the beautiful beaches of Byron Bay and Ballina, we knew we had to change that.

We asked our factory to stop using any plastic on our products during the shipping process and to bundle everything together into a box instead. It's not common in our industry, but it felt like the right move for our business and for the planet.

Compostable Packaging

As an online business, we ship packages every single day. Thinking of the hundreds of poly-mailers we were sending out made us cringe — so we made a change. We discovered The Better Packaging Co., an Australian/New Zealand company that creates compostable mailers that biodegrade in just 180 days. It's a product and company we're proud to support, and being a homegrown company makes it even better!

What you'll receive in the mail is simple and intentional: your brand new nappies, and a wash/fit guide card made locally from recycled paper. We believe less packaging means less waste — and that's something worth celebrating.

Why We Use Hemp and Bamboo in Our Inserts

Every Bottoms Up Junior Cloth Nappy comes with an insert set made from 2 layers of Organic Hemp Fabric and 1 layer of Organic Bamboo Fleece. We chose these natural, organic fibres deliberately:

  • Bamboo is 40% more absorbent than even the finest organic cotton, wicking moisture away from the skin faster and keeping baby dry and comfortable. It can absorb three times its weight in water, meaning it also releases moisture faster.
  • Hemp is one of the most sustainable fibres on earth — naturally durable, fast-growing, and kind to the environment.

These benefits are exactly why we wanted to use 100% natural, organic fibres in our insert sets.

TPU Instead of PUL

We also use TPU (Thermoplastic Polyurethane) instead of PUL for the waterproof backing of our nappies. TPU is more pliable, and the manufacturing process is more earth-friendly — and less harmful to the factory workers who make them.

Thank you for being part of Junior Tribe and for choosing a more sustainable path for your family.
